How to supplemental : TO BE OR NOT TO BE...
"TO BE OR NOT TO BE.. A HOME WRECKER?"
Supposedly anyway.
But first, let's get a few things straight.
A home wrecker is defined as "A person who is blamed for the breakup of a marriage or family, especially ,due to having engaged in an affair with one member of a couple."
And I had my own experience with almost being a semi-homewrecker while at a week-long camp this summer.
I was new and he was the hottest guy in the room and,
looked undeniably single. That is, until a few days later when I saw another girl ーwho could've possibly been his sister, and turned out to be very politeー wearing his jacket. But seeing as how I still had to go to this camp I thought
"Should I just try it anyway? "
Luckily I snapped out of it before anything happened ーdue to a lack of actual plan, time constraint and a thing I like to call 'meet your hero syndrome' ¹ ーand left that man alone, but when the party was over I thought about if I had, gone through with it. Then what would I be? What would other people be labeled as if they'd done the thing that I didn't?
And it made me wonder.
When there's no marriage, no house to bulldoze with
feminine wiles or machismo charm can you really be labeled a home-wrecker?
Over the last century, the rules of dating have transformed. It used to be a full continental breakfast, where everyone could help themselves. Now? It feels more like a VIP section, roped off from the rest of the dating pool.
This shift begs the question: as long as there's 'no ring on it,' are we still allowed to play the field, even if we're on somebody else's turf?
That is the question.
